The treeboa that nobody likes :p
Just some pics of my pair of Candoia bibroni australis (Solomon Island Tree Boa). Really fun animals to work with. A shame they get so little attention. And a pic of my Aru as a bonus:

That's funny that you say that because I was thinking about reading up on them and giving it a shot.

What a beauty they are, those boas!

Looks like an interesting project in the making. Cool looking snakes you have there!

I tried to see what I could find only about the Candoia and I found a site that had more on how to breed them than their actual husbandry. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT????

Tomorrow I can pick up a new pair. :D Double chances of breeding then. Well, altimaunit01, keeping them is pretty easy and straight-forward. Breeding them is a bit more challenging. Females only ovulate once every 2 or 3 years (most of them that is) and only after a mating. It's also very rare that a single male will get exited about the female, so you need to use multiple males. Don't know what site you where reading, but can immagine that the writer had more to tell about breeding and raising the young then about the keeping itself.

I think they are lovely! Would love to get some more info about these in captivity. How about Candoia superciliosa, are the even kept in captivity?

Yeah I saw that it usually takes several males to accomplish breeding. I was actually interested in finding out more about the general husbandry BEFORE I even begin to think about breeding. I don't remember what site I looked at but that person would put a bunch of them together and let them pair off. Then the pairs were put into their own cages.

Hi Tom, How did you get on getting the other pair? I have 2.3 adult C.b.australis and bred them last year with 23 young, It's good to see some one else trying to get these guys breeding. Keep me updated on your progress, you have some very nice adults there! Cheers Matt
